Thank you to everyone who sent get-well messages, left kind comments, and thought good things for X during the time that she was sick.
It is SO very nice to be back home and getting into my usual routine. (X is required to take it easy for a few days and lean back into her normal life slowly.) I spent most of the morning decompressing, mentally, from being stuck in a hospital where I often disagree with strict, blind western medicine. After having type I diabetes for 26 years, it's difficult to find anyone in our village or our sister village who knows more about it than I do. Fortunately, the staff was very cooperative. While they did her lab work and provided intravenous fluids, I was put in charge of insulin adjustments to deal with sickness, ketoacidosis, IV dextrose, removal of IV dextrose, and post-hospital care regarding her basal and bolus dosing. Their realization that I knew what I was doing felt very rewarding.
Either way, I'm home now and ready to do some laundry, wash a few dishes, and find all the mundane beauty that I can in a single day. Or moment.
I hope you find some beauty in your life today. Or now.
