This is going to be a crazy-busy week. There is so much to do in general, not to mention the preparations for the upcoming weekend. (Note to self: Call dog kennel to reserve boarding!) I don't think that I'll fit in any photo shoots or hikes, but maybe a few pictures and a short walk or two.
I hope to get back here again this week. Enjoy your Monday, and Tuesday, and so on...
Yesterday, I shoveled the walk repeatedly, fed the birds, made a path through the snow to walk the dog, and used a 12-foot specialty rake to clear snow off of the roof so that we don't end up with ice dams like last year (when it was like my window panes were raining ... or, maybe they were crying).
I was proud of myself. I had a damn productive day despite harsh weather conditions. During the early evening, I felt really motivated and started to deep clean the living room. I finally dusted and re-organized inside the media center.
I was about to move onto another area when Luna needed to go outside. I bundled up and snapped on her leash. I made it down the steps and as I turned to walk the dog path in the yard, my foot turned inward ... *snap* ... and, then I overcompensated and my foot turned outward ... *snap* ... and I landed on my left side. I screamed for X, pulled myself up, and hopped one-legged up the porch.
Last night, the pain wasn't too bad ... just no weight-bearing and limited mobility.
Today? #%%$&#$!!!
I can't walk. I can't drive. I can't shower. (Trust me, I mofo'ing NEED a shower.) There is severe pain below my outer ankle bone, which is the only place that I have swelling. There is no obvious, outward bruising.
I'd like to get to the clinic for an x-ray, you know, just to be sure that there isn't a break. If it's just a sprain, I don't even care as long as I have what I need ... like food.
I am thinking about calling a local pharmacy to see if they can deliver a crutch (or, a pair?) so that I can at least get around the house. I don't know what else to do ... I am literally trapped at home. My husband wants me to take a cab to the hospital. I'd rather have my foot chewed off by a zombie.
Regarding the video above: I recorded that on Monday after salting the icy sidewalk (before all the snow blew in). I was wearing the same shoes when I fell.
I've been trying to post more frequently on my video blog, and have been somewhat successful, but I have also been showing half of them here as well. Either way, I just thought that I'd remind you of that blog and let you know there's some really underwhelming videography over there now and more to come ... "almost-daily".
P.S. HERE is the feed if you want the video delivered to your reader.
I am afraid that I have given some of you the wrong idea ... I do NOT dislike snow. Not at all.
Snow is icing on the cold-weather cake.
It's just not my favorite part about winter ... the cold is what I love the most. Speaking of which, it was chilly enough this morning to take a nice walk by the riverside.
I woke up at 6 and thought that I was snowed in because, when it snows A LOT, the village plows make one pass through the streets to clear a path, and then they come back later to finish the clean-up ... plowing all the way to the curbs. (Six-plus hours later and they still haven't been back through to finish the job!)
So, I was all whiny and called my husband complaining about how all my plans needed to be changed, etc. I skulked around the house instead of getting ready for my very busy day.
Once I got outside, I felt like a bit of an idiot.
There's, like, only three inches of snow and I've wasted half of my day for no freaking reason at all. Aargh.
An aside: I know that several of you have given me "internet awards". I have completely lost track of who, what, when, where, and why. I feel like a jerk for not responding and I'm sorry. I have such a bad habit of letting these things get away from me.
Please accept my apologies. If you were the giver of one of these awards and you feel like it, let me know and I'll post about it. Or, maybe, create a permanent page for them?!
I present a walk through my garden beds in autumn. Although I have a lot less garden square footage than I used to, I do a really bad job at keeping up with even the smaller space. And, obviously, I never stripped my hollyhocks of seeds to send out to friends. I'm sorry.
If you make it through this video, you deserve some sort of prize. Sorry that I don't have one.
